archiTEXT

History

archiTEXT was born out of a desire to create something different in the world of architecture - to create accessibility to the discipline and practice.  To generate dialogue using traditional and non-traditional means, using creativity and ideation to discuss architecture with a broader demographic.

Founded in 2006, archiTEXT was created to fill a need. In the world of design, there are the firms, there are the educators, there are the thinkers, but what was missing was something to bring those people together – as well as all of those in between that want to get engaged but cannot as a result of the rigid parameters articulated by the formal practice of architecture and design.  There needed to be a place to think, to experiment with concepts as well as ideas in a both a conceptual and tangible way, there needed to be a place where all of those who wanted to be part of the discourse could find a home.

So, welcome home.

Over the past years, the studio has undergone a significant growth spurt and is now home and has been home to many design innovators.   In 2008, archiTEXT was invited to be the first Innovator in Residence at Canada’s Design Museum, the Design Exchange – North America’s first museum and institution dedicated to promoting, housing, and incubating innovation in the field of design.
