What Has Architecture Done For You Lately?

  • Everything we do happens in a piece of architecture, but do even know how to design anymore?

Architecture is related to almost everything we do, every part of society, and every human interaction.  What Has Architecture Done For You Lately? is a cross-disciplinary project that explores a new vernacular around architecture as a social, as a global, and as a universal issue.  Exploring architecture  through the lenses of success, equality, emotion, health, and the environment, WHADFYL  highlights the potential and the power of mobilizing global citizens to become stewards of their current and future built environments.

The project has been explored through a series of media. The project started with a series of charrettes - engaging dynamic groups from youth to CEO’s - at museums, schools, and public spaces. Following those, a conceptual art exchibit was designed and opened at the Design Exchange, Canada’s National Design Museum, where thousands of visitors engaged with the exhibit by leaving anonymous notes as to how they engage with the statement “I AM AN ARCHITECT”.  The exhibit led to theresearch for an accompanying book, which took archiTEXT to 13 countries researching how we can communicate about the discipline using a common global language.
